Portrait of Umay

About me

I am a Business Management & Human Resource Management student at the University of Leeds and a Dean's Excellence Scholar, with an interest in how organisations build effective, people-focused cultures, employment law and consultancy.

My experience spans HR internships at Blackmont Consulting and 180 Degrees Consulting, a Management Consulting Trainee programme with Schmintle, student representation and research into AI and UK employment law, presented at the University of Leeds Undergraduate Research Conference and the British Conference of Undergraduate Research, with an abstract published in Reinvention.

My key areas of interest include:

  • Employee experience & engagement
  • Employment law
  • Consultancy
  • Organisational development
  • HR strategy in modern workplaces

I am a CIPD Student Member and I'm eager to further explore how organisations operate in practice — such as how internal processes and people management shape performance. I am actively seeking opportunities, internships, and conversations with HR professionals to continue learning and contributing.
